Dog scuffs on pre-finished oak floor--how's yours holding up?

I suppose I can't complain much since my pre-finished Bruce solid oak t&g flooring is almost 20 years old but I'm surprised how beat up it looks just from the dog's nails. The finish isn't scratched or peeled--just tiny dents & dings left by his claws (50 pound spaniel) covering every inch of the floor and making it look dull. I thought oak was tougher than that and I've read many many times how tough pre-finished floors are.

I'm not impressed.

I assume this finish will cost dearly to strip.

Oak is tough .... compared to soft woods like pine. I'm not sure there is any flooring or finish that a dog won't destroy sooner or later
