laminate ove lineleom(sp)?

I seem to have to install a laminate floor in two hallways after carpet came up
the subloor is covered in old 11950s lineoleum. really glued down tight

can I install laminate over it?

Laminate installed as a floating floor so that as long as the floor underneath is sound, you can install over it. Make sure you have an approved an appropriate laminate underlayment for sound deadening. If over concrete, you would want a vapor barrier built into the underlayment.

Gaps in stair skirting when replacing carpeted stairs with hardwood

We have finished laying hardwoods upstairs and pulled the carpet off stairs to start that part of the project. We sawed off the lip of wood to make room for new bullnose tread, like the flooring store said to do. We're using white risers and teak treads. The problem is we will have gap issues in the stair skirt. Please see picture. Even when adding the depth of the riser (not pictured in yet), we're left with an inch of gap and/or leftover wood lip. You can see the bullnose tread we plan to install in the picture and what little it covers of our stair skirt. What possible solutions do we have? We're new to laying floors on stairs. STAIR Treads + Riser Question: EXPANSION GAP Necessary?

I'm thinking through on stair treads and risers project and was wondering if an EXPANSION GAP is necessary. It's been driven into me that hardwood floors will expand/contract (as any other solid wood materials) but from all I've seen regarding STAIRS, they're all flushed: treads are butted flushed side-to-side with walls (or skirt boards) and risers are flushed from bottom-to-top of each tread. Should I play it safe and add 1/8 expansion gap to the treads and risers? I can hide the gap on the risers with a stair skirt but not sure about the riser. I live in Nevada and the high dessert climate has minimal moisture. [B][I]Please see attached pic of my stairs that I've prepped for treads/risers[/I][/B].
