Engineered wood floor over laminate floor (over concrete)?

I just bought an old '70's ranch house with laminate wood floors installed over concrete. I'd like to save the time and effort ripping out 2800sf of floor before installing a new engineered wood floor. The laminate floor is in good shape and level, so can I use it as the subfloor versus having to tear it out, install a new moisture barrier, plywood and then lay the new flooring? Would I have to use click-lock floating floors or could I glue/nail? Thanks.

Welcome to the forums! Is the present laminate glued down? If possible pull the laminate. Should there be any moisture problems, it will delaminate and buckle, causing problems with your new floor. You don't want to encapsulate laminate between two vapor barriers, anyway. There is no need to install plywood. Install your new vapor barrier and click lock engineered floor directly over the concrete.
