laminate and troublesome round steps

Hopefully someone can help with some ideas. My husband and I are ripping up old carpet and putting wood laminate flooring in the living room and dining room. The problem is, these rooms are separated by three round steps. What can we do with them? My husband says we can do laminate over them. Oh, and to make it more complicated, these steps are cement under the carpeting. Any ideas would greatly appreciated!

Your challenge is not cutting laminate to float on the steps, it is making stair nosing in the shape of the step. The nosing needs to be mechanically fastened to the concrete with some sort of vapor barrier under so the wood is not in direct contact. Need to be fastened so that it is secure when you walk on it as it will take all the pressure. How wide and deep are the steps? May be easier to fashion something out of solid wood rather than try to add the laminate.
