Laminate Flooring Over Finished Concrete
Hi everyone
I live in a studio loft with concrete floors that already have a basic painted finish.
i'm planning laminate floors and have a few questions
firstly, a few things to consider:
all walls are concrete
no windows
just skylights
no insulation on the roof
so in the winter ambient temperature is 55-60 degrees
its an open warehouse space,
15ft ceilings means this place gets cold
im on a budget
i do not own this space and so do not planning on keeping using them for 2-3 years, so quality or durability is not the highest priority
1.
i've been told that for laminate over concrete, a 6 mil plastic moisture barrier is required for concrete, however, does this apply for concrete that is already finish / painted?
2.
in terms of thermal benefit
does 8mil really make a difference between 10mil or 12 mil?
some of the 12mil floors come already with a pre-glued sublayer.... i'm not sure if this would be sufficient or would it still be wise to add more ?
3.
whats the minimum sublayer that i would need?
4.
whats the most optimal sublayer if trying to warm the floors as much as possible?
thanks for any and all suggestions
