Question

I saw a thing on one of the home improvement shows that did a butt cut 2x4 floor. They used scrap, butt cut 2x4's and layed them on end. Then they used something like a grout to fill in the gaps and after that dried, they shellaced??? the floor. My question is ... what was that grout stuff. It was grey in color and sort of gritty in texture. Also, was it shellac they used to cover it??
I would appricate any ideas, where to look for help or any tips from someone who has either seen or put down this type of floor.

Butt cut 2x4s for flooring

You can have a solid hardwood tongue and groove floor for less than the cost of those 2x4s. If you go that route, you are setting yourself up for some problems. I would not recommend it. patricia @ http://www.twelvepole.com
