Undercut that bump out of wood and use 1/4 round or shoe molding to cover the expansion gap

You can't use shoe or quarter round on laminate next to tile. You will need to use a termination transition strip to allow for proper expansion and contraction. The fastening system will attach to the floor and the laminate will be cut 1/4" or so short of that, then the transition strip will be applied to the fastening system. Definitely undercut the pilaster.
