Laminate w/ attached pad on concrete - which underlayment?

Putting 12mm laminate in the basement (I know, not the popular choice) and it comes with an attached padding. Initially, I was thinking of using the Roberts 3-in-1 underlayment because I liked the layer designed to promote airflow under the laminate. BUT, now I'm rethinking that because of the laminate already having padding....think it might not be the best choice now.

Does anyone have any experience using a 3-in-1 underlayment with padded laminate?

I just laid about 1000 sf in a basement for a client (against my better judgment). The manufacturer called for 6 mil vapor barrier and the flooring with pad directly on that. I would not add more cushion to the laminate. It can cause weakness in the joints and will be too mushy when walking on it. The 12 mm laid better than the cheapo stuff. I don't like laminate.

Thanks, Chandler. I'm laying approx the same sq footage as you just did. I was concerned of having too much cushion - so I'll just stick with the standard 6 mil vapor barrier. I see that Roberts makes one, but it doesn't have great reviews b/c its the type that unfolds and not unrolls - so lots of creases that need flattened prior to laying the laminate. Found 100ft x 4ft rolls with an adhesive edge at Menards for $12/ea so I'll go that route.

One more question as it relates to laying the vapor barrier. When installing, should I seal the edge to the floor as it meets the wall, or leave extra and hide the excess with the base board?
