Latex rugs on wood floor

How likely are latex back rugs to cause warping of wood floor? We live in nyc apartment. I have read they will damage the finish, but am not concerned with that since we already need them refinished. However, I don't want to cause warping. How often does that happen?

Never heard of it unless something were to get spilled and the rug trapped the moisture against the flooring.

Maybe some of the finish experts can help here....

I have heard, and believe, that certain plastics and latex can eat or etch into a polyurethane finish.
I avoid plastic place mats on my dining room table just for that reason.
So I think your problem would not be warping, but etching of the finish.

Plasticizer migration. Don't know if that can happen on a wood floor or not.
