Hardwood Floor Stain Won't come out

I'm in the process of sanding my hardwood floors for refinishing.there are some areas where it seems like theres some kind of stain is all the way through the wood. I've made at least six or seven passes over some spots with the drum sander and still doesn't seem to be coming out all the way, where as a single pass takes off all the finish with 60 grit paper in other areas. Is there something I can do to lighten the stain or better yet remove it with bleach or hydrogen peroxide ? I'm afraid to make too many more passes and wont be able to feather them out with this drum sander takes a lot of wood quickly. Check out the pics,

the 1st one in the middle where it looks like a huge puddle is where I've made the most passes, the others only made 2 before it was time to return sander.Name: photo 3.jpg

Welcome to the forums! If the rental place has orbital sanders, you may be better off using one of them for this final part. Drum sanders, especially for DIYers will gouge and take too much off in places you don't intend. The orbital ones just vibrate, and give a superior finish. You may never get the stains out by sanding alone. Our paint guru will be along in 12 minutes with his take on what you can do to remove the stains, so hang in there.

I don't know a lot about bleaching stains out of wood but as deep as the stains are that is probably your only option. I'm not sure what kind of bleach it is but it's not household/laundry bleach. If you can't bleach the stains out you'll have to either replace the affected boards or live with the stains. The stains won't be as noticeable with darker stains.

Those black areas look like old pet damage to me.

Rental companies around here only have drum sander and sqaure buff sanders. Some is probably pet damage but the large one is 5ft by 3ft seems like be too large for pet. Would hydrogen peroxide work maybe?

You need oxalic acid, which is wood bleach. Peroxide is going to do nothing for you.

As Joe said, the darker stain you use on this, the less the stains will show through.
