Repair and replacement of damaged hardwood floor

I have a water damaged floor in a downstairs dining room. An upstairs leak over time that was not discovered has managed to buckle the hardwood strips so much that they have raised up into a long "tent" in the area where the water was coming thru the ceiling above it. I figure these strips need to be replaced but I am not sure how to remove them properly, and then putting back new ones. I suppose they may have been glued down originally or maybe nailed but need some advice before I proceed. The hardwood extends from the dining room out into the living room so I don't have a close natural stopping point to just start over. I would have to tear up two rooms of flooring to do that.

WML13, gonna need to figure the picture upload portion for us to see the issue and advise. You can also provide links to a photo sharing site like PhotoBucket.
