pre-attached pad at costco

Costco sells laminate with pre-attached pad. It does even completely cover the board. It says it makes more wood sounding.
I want to do it for my first floor. do I still need to do moisture proof underlayment even it has pre-attached pads?

What type of subfloor do you have? If concrete, you most likely will still have to provide a vapor barrier. The pre-attached pad in theory would help with deadening vibrations similar to high end stainless sinks have a coating to reduce noise. They don't cover 100% because there needs to be room for the click lock mechanism to engage.

We are not overly fond of laminate, particularly below grade or in wet locations such as kitchens and baths. Urge you to consider looking into a quality engineered floor as it is more stable and is real wood, not a picture of wood.
