Hardwood to Carpet Transition
I bought a house a year ago where the previous owner put in new carpet before selling. Good quality carpet I might add. In one room, the carpet transitions to hardwood which is in the majority of the downstairs. The transition is it butts up against the hardwood. The carpet is now showing signs of wear at the hardwood in high traffic spot.
I know all about transitions that can be done at installation time, but what about after the fact? I would like to keep the carpet and protect the transition.

One solution would be a throw rug. We had some left over carpet pieces and had the carpet place bind the edges and put on a non slip backing, and use one of those at a similar transition to wood flooring and also by the patio door. Of course you could use something more decorative as well.
