Laminate over linoleum and where carpet was - uneven!

I am looking to install some laminate over some linoleum and where some carpet is getting removed. Since where the carpet was will be sub floor and where the linoleum is will be uneven, what can I do to make this an even surface for laying the laminate? The linoleum is not very thick, maybe 1/8".

Welcome to the forums! If you must install laminate, steer clear of the cheapest. It will bite you sooner or later. That said, remove the linoleum to achieve a flat surface if possible. What type underlayment do you plan on using? What is your laminate type?

Good to know about the cheap laminate. The problem with removing the linoleum is that it has 60% asbestos so I didn't want to mess with it. Instead I was going to just lay over the top in order to prevent exposing my family to asbestos. We were browsing floor & decor yesterday but hadn't picked out a final choice for underlayment or type.
