What kind of wood is this?

Starting sanding down the hardwood I found underneath the floor in my rear parlor. Any idea what this wood type is...maybe oak? In my 1878 house. I can do a lot of things but identifying wood is not my strong suit.Name: 15494009_10154264316069397_587379164_n.jpg

I'm no expert either, but have worked with wood a long time.
It looks to me like some type of quarter sawn Fir, maybe pine. It doesn't appear to be oak or hardwood.
The old growth wood will be very hard even if not hardwood.

It is quarter sawn, but whether pine or fir or spruce it's difficult to tell. I don't think it is oak, however.

I also think it's Fir. While I've not worked with a lot of Fir, all the Fir that I've stained over the years looked similar to the pic.
