Laminate floor underlayment question

Hi everyone,

First time installing laminate flooring and I am getting confused.

I have a basement which has a concrete slab, and would like ot put a pergo xp laminate I purchased on it.

My question, the pergo has a flimsy piece of underlayment on it, 2mm of foam, I want to put a good moisture barrier below it, and was thinking of using pergo gold, but instructions say 'NO!" only a 6 mil virgin resin something or other.

With it being concrete, I thought the pergo gold would give the floor a softer feel and add some moisture protection....any thoughts are appreciated.

here is the product i am using:

To add, I removed vinyl tile from the concrete floor, and do not want to disturb the black mastic which looks painted on at this point, there are no rough spots....

F) For concrete subfloors, install vapor barrier with overlapped seams of 8" or more.
So instructions state you need vapor barrier, where are you seeing "NO"?

Basements and laminate can be a bad combination. Are you certain you have no water problems down there?

Ive had several laminate floors in my basements but always used premium underlayment/vapor barrier with no issue.

However that is with having no moisture issues so that has to be confirmed.

Vapor barrier yes, additional cushioning over and above what is already attached to the laminate is a no. Too much movement in laminate will stress the click lock mechanism. Thicker with laminate underlayment does not translate into a more softer floor experience. It can create vertical movement and future issues.
