Smile Advice needed on laying laminate flooring

I have a small room (7 feet by 9 feet) off my media room where I want to lay laminate flooring. Currently, there is relatively thin carpet and carpet padding on top of a plywood subfloor. This small room's carpet continues through a pocket doorway into the media room, so I just want a clean break at the doorway enterance. I was hoping to lay the laminate on top of the carpet, but I see mixed reviews on this subject.

Also, if I laid the laminate on top of the carpet, would the transition from the laminate to the carpet in the media room still work or would the laminate be abnormally higher than the media room carpet? Just trying to find the best (and easiest) way to go about this project. It is my first time laying laminate flooring. I appreciate the help and advice!

I attached some pictures of the enterance to the room, thickness of the carpet and what the subfloor looks like.

Don't know why you would be seeing mixed reviews, this is a horrible idea.

Okay. Good to know. So since laying the laminate ON TOP of the carpet is a "horrible idea", do you have good advice/help to add?

Yes, remove the carpet. I don't see any pictures, what's the subfloor composition?

Remove the carpet, put down a laminate pad and finish it at the threshold with a strip of molding that covers both the carpet and the laminate.

Thank you. Another question, as I pull up the carpet and the pad underneath, I notice that the plywood is "pieced" together and is not completely flat. It has slight variation where the boards meet. It this going to be an issue or am I fine to just put the laminate pad down?

Also, would you recommend I remove the baseboard prior to laying down the floor?
