New subfloor over old...

What about installing a new subfloor over and older tongue groove floor with slight sagging and imperfections. What's the best way to ensure the new subfloor lays level and solid?

You need to use floor leveller and shims to take the bellies out of the old subfloor. You do that on top of the old subfloor then screw the new subfloor over that... you usually want to screw it at least 8" on center... screw subfloor to subfloor, not subfloor to the joists... and do not glue. Then check the floor again.

Try to get it better than 1/4" in 10'... 3/16" in 6'.
