Hardwood resting on joists

I found hardwood under my office carpet but i need to replace a 9, 9 foot boards. I believe they need to be 9' long because they are resting on joists, no subfloor. Problem is, I have no idea where to find them. Any suggestions are welcome! Everything I've found is sold in smaller sizes. Thank you!

The joists themselves can't be 9' apart, can they? I would think you could split the span as long as joints fall on joists.
