Question

I rent an older home with wood flooring throughout. (I do some home improvements for a break on the rent!) Some of the rooms are fabulous, but others have been neglected/mistreated. The kitchen floor is unfinished, and has plenty of water marks and staples in it.(??) The foyer has been painted over with white, obviously several years ago. I want to refinish the wood, but there is no subflooring and I can see into the basement in some areas. If I sand it down, will it remian sturdy? I have thought about laminate flooring in the kitchen, but the floor is very uneven and there are so many staples! Help! Are there any suggestions? What is the easiest and least expensive way to improve my floors?

Thanks!

You'll have to pull out the staples first if you want to refinish the floors. If you're looking to do laminate then you can either pull out the staples or pound them down.
