Yellow stains on vinyl floors

The throw rugs on my bathroom and kitchen vinyl floors have
left yellow stains underneath them. What has caused this?
How can I remove them? What type of throw rugs do I need
to replace the old ones with once the stains are gone?

Rug stains on vinyl floor
Rubber backed rugs tend to cause a chemical reaction with the vinyl that results in permanent yellowing and discoloration.
