We are putting in laminate floor in a high traffic area of our home and are confused about which brand to choose. We were going with Pergo Select but were told that other products were just as good and less expensive. One bidder wants to use a brand called "North American Floors". We like the looks and pattern but no one around here (Idaho) has heard of it. (The contractor says it is from a company in Canada.(Purewoods, Inc.)) He says he will put in any brand we want but he likes this the best and has a supply on hand. Another bidder agrees that we don't need to pay the price for Pergo Select to get the same quality. Is there any brand we should steer away from? Is it better to go with an established flooring company? Help!!

Yes it is deffinetly best to go with a know, respected, financially sound brand that not only promises a warrantee but will be around if you need to collect. There are well known brands that will do every thing the high priced Pergo will do, INCLUDING lower priced Pergo Presto. Bad news about Presto is the small selection.
