How close nail to end of plank?

I had to cut off a lot of the tongue and groove on each end of my flooring (reinstalling a previously used wood floor).
How close can I nail to the end of each plank where it joins onto the next plank?

I stay back several inches from the end to help avoid splitting the tongue off.

Any danger of the end moving if there's no tongue at the end?

What kind of nailing are you referring too!

Tne machine installed spikes into the tongue or face nailing?

Machine nailing should be no closer than the edge of the machine, about 1 1/2".

If you must get close to the edge then pre drill pilot hole and blunt the end of your nail.
