What color is my oak hardwood

Where would I go to get someone to determine the color of existing. Can anyone tell the color by the picture? %90 of the floor I have had an seen were the honey yellow colored floor. I bought red and white oak and tested with Natural stain. It is too brown. Golden oak always

seemed really brown. I assume the color was natural. Could it be it is just clear varnish and that is what gives it that color. What am I missing? Thanks.

Due to the color variation, I suspect it only has a clear finish over it. An oil finish (such as oil polyurethane) will amber over time. Water-based will not yellow but has only been around for about 20-30 years.

Are you able to take a finished piece to a paint store? That's usually your best bet.

Try applying a water based poly [no stain] to your sample pieces. Anything oil based will deepen the colors naturally in the wood.

My guess is that your floor has no stain and is the natural wood color. Also, wood changes color as it ages, is exposed to the air and to sunlight.
