How tdo I mitre internal corners
#1

I have just laid my first laminate floor here in the UK. However how do I put the edging down (bewteen edge of new floor and skirting) and more specifically how do I mitre the corners? I have tried several angles but it still doesn't join up!

This is where the skill part comes into play. Do you have a miter box or a miter saw or table saw? In short are the proper tools available to you? Is there anything unusual about the angles needed to join your moldings at the corner of the room?

I have a mitre box and mitre saw - but I just cannot seem to work out the angles. The room is fairly square - the moulding is not symmetrical (Its wider on the bottom than the top) - hope this helps! I know the saw cut should be 45 degrees (I think)

I'm not familiar with common moldings used in the UK as here in the states it's typically baseboard(skirting) and quarter round or shoemold to cover the expansion area. The only thing I can think of here is(wider on the bottom) the molding may have a profile on the back which may prevent the cut desired on the chopsaw(mitre saw).
I'm still guesing here, but I've cut common "colonial base" here in the states and the only way to cut it right, is to add a higher "fence" on the chop saw. Otherwise the pieces being cut will fall off the existing low fence and they'll be exactly as you describe Jeff.
