Refinishing baseboard
#1

I have white oak floors and have no idea what the baseboards are except they all have the same orange 'bug juice' stain on them from back inthe 1950s. We are getting the floors sanded and clearcoated with polyeurethane, and new matching quarterround will be added. However, the baseboards will still be orange. Is there a stripper or solvent I can use to get off this finish, so I can match it to the natural color of the floors?
I thought of using a palm sander, but it seems it would be very difficult to avoid rounding the edges or nicking the floor itself.
Thanks.

The baseboards are likely pine, and the orange bug juice sounds like old shellac to me.
It can be stripped off with chemical stripper, and then you can choose how to match them up with the wood flooring or the walls. The quarter-round will probably be pine.
Lightly sand the baseboards after stripping, before applying poly or paint.
Good Luck!
