paint spatters on wood floor

I have removed wall to wall carpeting from my hardwood floors. They are basically in good shape, however there are paints splatters and smudges around the edges. What can I use to remove these. I prefer not to refinsh, because most of the floor is in good shape

Refinishing baseboard

I have white oak floors and have no idea what the baseboards are except they all have the same orange 'bug juice' stain on them from back inthe 1950s. We are getting the floors sanded and clearcoated with polyeurethane, and new matching quarterround will be added. However, the baseboards will still be orange. Is there a stripper or solvent I can use to get off this finish, so I can match it to the natural color of the floors? I thought of using a palm sander, but it seems it would be very difficult to avoid rounding the edges or nicking the floor itself. Thanks.Read More

Fitting laminate floor around stone fireplace

My husband and I just purchased Mannington laminate flooring for our first floor. We have 2 energetic dogs, which is why we went with lamiante floors. We are planning to install it ourselves. In our family room we have a stone fireplace which isn't square, because of the stones. When we put the floors down what do we do to get the floor to fit around the stones tightly? We realize we would have to cut the floor to the shape but what is the best way or how do you do this? Thanks Read More
