Ruled out the versalock once I received the sample. AzFred was completely right as much as I didn't want to believe it. Now we're comparing the Pergo Presto and Armstrong Swiftlock. Any opinions on which is better? Also, we are replacing carpeting. Is it possible to carefully remove the painted baseboards and use those again along with laminate quarter round? What do people typically use to trim the floor? One or the other? Thanks...

The Pergo Presto and the Armstrong Swiftlock, are both made by outsource contractors. Both are good products but neither made by the marketer. The only comparison that YOU can make, I believe, is the tightness of the joint. There is a difference. I don't know that you will be successful in removing the painted baseboards but go ahead and try. New paint grade base moldings are avaliable for less than a $1.00 per linial foot and as little as $.36 at local Home Depot stores. You can also use the laminate 1/4 round but it will not be necessary if base mold that is at least 7/16" at the bottom is used. It's a good idea to paint the base befor you install it and then touch up with the same paint after nail holes etc. are filled.
