Help!! My two year old "colored" on my hardwood floor with an indelible marker. Unfortunately, I was not home when this happened and it had dried by the time it was discovered (by a shrieking mother). I tried cleaning it with lemon oil, but I ended up with a very shiny marker mess. Is there any way to clean this shy of sanding the floor down and refinishing it?

Try mineral spirits and a rag. I believe that should do the trick, but try it out in a closet or some other rarely seen area.

Any experience with floor leveling compound?

I'm planning on putting laminate planks down on a partial basement remodel. The slab is uneven right now and needs to be leveled. I've been told to use the Self-Leveling floor compound (which you mix with water) and basically pour it into the low spots... I find it hard to believe it is that easy. Does anyone out there have experience with this stuff that can give me a bit of insight as to it's usage? Read More
