Question

I am about to undertake a new project on my home and have a question on installing a new hardwood floor. I will be using a product from Pergo flooring and will be going over vinyl if possible. I have concrete slab base with the vinyl installed over it for at least 20 years. The vinyl is glued to the concrete and holding good. Do I need to pull up the vinyl and glue the hardwood to the concrete or just glue over the vinyl? Any answers and tips or advise will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Pergo Floors Float!

Laminate flooring such as Pergo floats on an underlayment is not glued down, although it may be glued together at assembly. Be sure that your "vinyl" is in fact vinyl and not asbestos. Install your laminate flooring on a foam underlayment over the vinyl. You shouldn't need a moisture barrier.
