Thanks for the replies. I'm planning to replace all carpeting with tile and laminate. The person who told me they usually pop up after a year, said that it was the individual slats within the planks that come up, even if gaps are left near the walls. I have been shopping for about a month and have been told by sales people that Wilsonart makes the best laminate. They may be trying to sell it because it's more expensive than the others. Does anyone have any input on the best brands?

Laminate

Wilsonart makes a fine product, as do some others. Buy the best that you can afford to buy and get a product with a good warranty. Follow manufacturers instructions re: acclimation and installation. Go to http://www.ifloor.com for useful info.

Ascott, You really need to do some research! There are no individual slats in a laminate flooring plank to seperate, come up, or otherwise move. I don't know what motivates people like the one advising you to make statements that are simply not possible and therefore not true. A new floor will effect the value of your home. Your home may be the largest investment you ever have, so guard it well. Click on the Web Site icon at the bottom of this post (red house) and start with my web site. My web site does not offer anything for sale and is completely generic as to brands.
