Recently moved into a home built in the mid 1960's. We're removing carpeting in the bedrooms. Hardwood floors are in good shape and do not appear to need to be refinished. However, it looks like they could use a good buffing. Any advice on type of equipment I should use? Should any type of paste or cleaner be applied either prior to or when buffing? Any and all advice is welcome.

Thanks.

Why not have it completely refinished by a professional? Mid 60's? I would have to take a guess and say the hardwood runs into other areas such as the hallway and even further? You will be amaized at the potential under those rugs
