Question

I recently finished a Pergo install and a couple areas of the floor in one room make sort of a crackling sound when I step on it. It seems like the floor is shifting around and moving a bit, sort of like a popping sound.. The sound is definitely louder when that area of the floor hasn't been walked on for a while... But after I walk in that area, it gets quieter.... come back later, it's very loud again at first. The

Is this at all normal? Could it be from a sloppy installation of the underlayment (SilentStep), or could it be a problem with the floor? Also, will this sound get better, worse, or stay the same over time? Anything I can do to fix it?

Any insight is appreciated. Thanks.

The source of your "noise" can be determined by a certified flooring inspecter. The floor could have been installed incorrectly, or the installation site conditions may be the cause.
