Question

I removed some vinyl asbestos tiles intact as recommended. Now a flooring salesman warned that the adhesive (he called it "blackback") may also contain asbestos. The underlayment is masonite and does not come up without breaking it into smaller pieces. Any hazardous dust situation here? During this summer's heat, the adhesive was still quite sticky.
Appreciate any input on this.

Thanks.

Asbestos

Asbestos should be removed by a licensed asbestos remover. Otherwise, it should be contained by covering over with a new subfloor on which you install your new floor covering.

black mastic removal

There are products that can safely do this job. Some HOME# DEPOT stores carry products from Sentinel made to do this. Also visit the web site at http://www.dumondchemicals.com and they have a black mastic remover
