Question

I am having a house built. It is my first new home, and just a starter at only 990sq ft (main floor, not including basement). I have taken on a bit of "sweat equity". Included in this sweat eqity is the installation of laminate flooring. About 800sq ft of the flooring will be laminate. Here is my question: What type of subfloor does this flooring need to be installed on? I know all about the foam, and vapor barrier, etc. I am going to be left with OSB throughout the entire main floor. Can the laminate be installed on this? Or do I need to install plywood over the OSB, then install the laminate? AM I better off to just have plywood installed instead of OSB, to save a step?

Thanks!

What's under the OSB? If this is over a basement, then it's probably ok and you can skip the plywood. Check w/the laminate flooring manufacturer, since each one has their own particulars.
