Sealing concrete slab

The rep at Home Depot suggested sealing our concrete slab before installing our laminate floor. I haven't seen any other recommendation on this. We are installing a vapor barrior/foam pad as recommended by the manufacturer. Is this overkill?

Also, is it necessary to fill in the chips left from the tack strips? Since they're at the edges of the walls, they wouldn't get any foot traffic on them.

Put down a 6mil polyethylene moisture barrier. If the area is to large for a single sheet, overlap joints about 8". Do this and sealing will not be neccessary but your warrantee will be satisfied. Don't worry about the chips from the former tackless.
