Installing baseboards

I am replacing my baseboards and carpet in my house. I wanted to know how high up to install the baseboard that will still allow th ecarpet to slip under it tightly?

Thanks

airmech0,
Why not have the carpet installed first.
Then, if it will be painted, or whatever, you won't mess the carpet.
Also, the installers won't bang it up while putting down the carpet.
