installing baseboards over uneven floor

I just had beautiful 1/2" engineered cherry flooring installed. When we went to install the baseboards, the bottom edge isn't flush with the floor in some places. Should I use caulking along the bottom edge and hope I can get it all wiped off the flooring? My concern is the beveled edges of the wood where the floor meets the baseboard perpendicularly (will I get caulking in the bevels and not be able to clean it up). Thanks a bunch for any advice!

carefully set down blue painters masking tape on the floor to the front edge of the base. Caulk, wipe with a wet rag and lift tape.

Scribe the base molding to fit.

You could install what is called "base shoe" around the baseboard. It's kinda like quarter-round and is flexible enough to cover most floor irregularities.
