Question Matching Baseboards to Pergo Flooring

We recently moved into a home that has Pergo flooring. We had a piece about 1 x 1 (if that) to take to the store to try and match with some type of stain for the baseboards. We have made about 15 trips in the past 24 hours and no matter how good we think it looks at the store, when we bring it home, apply and put next to the floor, suddenly it changes colors on us. Now, I have the bright idea to try a type of color wash pickling. My husband is getting so frustrated at this point he's about to lose it. Anyone else have some suggestions or advice?

Only the EXACT same brand, same color number will match because the papers used in both are from the same mill. The other option is to buy a hardwood molding with a similar graining and mix a stain to match but this option is best left to the professional woodworking or hardwood flooring installers.

Matching wood baseboard stain to Pergo

You are trying to match the stain on a natural wood product to a plastic product. Achieving an exact match may be impossible. Too each piece of the baseboard will absorb the stain differently and no two pieces will be exactly alike. The stain will also look differently once it is sealed. Baseboards are typically finished the same way doors and windows have been. Matching the baseboards to the doors and windows might be a better option if you are installing real wood baseboards. Another option is to purchase matching Pergo baseboard.
