What types of backings on throw and area rugs are safe for hardwood floors?

Rug pads

The best rug pads are those made from natural rubber, not synthetic. Natural rubber will not deteriorate or disintegrate like synthetic pads. Synthetic pads sometimes experience chemical reactions with floor finishes, causing finish to become sticky and soft and pad getting stuck to the finish. Go to www.rugpads.com to see the Anchor pads.

Because sunlight afffects wood floors, it is best to keep blinds and curtains closed. Move area rugs occasionally to inspect and to allow the covered area to be exposed so exposure will be even. Other care and preventive maintenance tips can be found at the following link.
