Question hardwood florrs on slab

We have just been given the 3/4" heart pine floors from a 100 year old house and want to install it in our house on a slab. We have been told that it can be cleaned, planed, cut into 12 " pieces and GLUED on our slab. Any thoughts?? Moisture is not a problem.

Why not install a plywood subfloor on the slab and nail/staple the heart pine? Is it in bad shape? It's done all the time with concrete slabs. Glueing short pieces can be done with a proper adhesive.

I'd suggest Bostiks http://www.bostik.com/flooring/floor-index.html for glueing short pieces. It's not cheap by any means and may run you $30 per gallon which should cover 35-40 square feet using the suggested trowel spread rate.
