Wax vs Poly

What are the pro's and cons of waxing vs poly. I have sanded the floors and sealed them and they look realy nice. I am debating either waxing or poly coat. I like the look of just the sealer, so if i did poly it would be in a satin finish. I have two children (11 & 2 yrs old). I like the idea of easy repair with wax, but I like the durability of poly. These rooms are primary traffic rooms (entrance living room and central dining room) Are there any other factors that would effect my decision? I am putting a second layer of sealer on today and would like to finish the job this week. Additionally are there any brands or types of wax that are recommended or I should stay away from?

Any help is greatly appreciated. Great forum!

Thanks
Anthony

Finishing wood floors

The type of finish you choose for your wood floor is a personal choice.

I'd avoid the wax if I were you. My dad used wax in our old house...it seemed like he was always on his hands and knees reapplying. A satin finish polyurethane should look similiar and last for years. It's also easy to touch up in the event of damage or scratches.
