Film on wood floor after carpet removal

I have removed my carpet to wood floors. The floors are in good shape, but there is a caked on film. It looks like glue but when you scrape it slightly it turns to a dust like substance. Can this be removed easliy?

It's probaby dirt or residue from the carpet pad. Try cleaning with paint thinner.

Removing Particle Board Flooring

On My Own Again on Jun 27, 2002

I purchased a home built in the late sixties, and the kitchen floor left much to the imagination. I have recently removed 1 layer of vinyl flooring and 1/4" of particle board to find the original floor tiles and another layer of 3/4" particle board. This layer of particle board crumbles and you can actually dig it up with a spoon - if needed. The floor rises and dips in areas (around the fridge and sink), which I know is from the particle board aging - no water damage seen. Would it be my best interest to pull up that layer of particle board, are there any precautions that should be taken not to damage the subfloor, or should I patch the bad areas, seal and lay down 1/4" marine plywood. Underlayment for Laminate floor

I am getting ready to have Columbia Clic installed in my kitchen and family room. I have done a lot of research and I am pretty sold on it. First of all do you have any opnions on this product? I am also having a hard time deciding on an underlayment. The floor will be installed on top of concrete. One place that I am looking at is insisting that I use Hush step underlayment. I have also looked at a place on the internet that uses 3in1. Both have a moisture barrier and the Coumbia Clic also has a moisture barrier built in. Is there enough of a difference that I should pay more for the Hush Step? Thank you!!Read More
