Taekwondo testing

My 10 year old son just tested for his yellow belt. He did so well. The head instructor said that his execution of his form was 'pure'. The look on Mr. Bridgeforth's face was worth a million dollars. He was so impressed and proud of Ian. Last time he tested he got his orange belt recommended, this time he got his yellow belt DECLARED!

Such an exciting night for him. He worked hard, and put his heart into it.

Yeah! We had our belt awards program tonight. Very nice! Everyone that tested this time got their belts. Great night for everyone.

We celebrated with pizza and cookies, and a wonderful cake to celebrate the fact that the owner received his 5th degree black belt when he tested at the nationals in Little Rock earlier this summer.

Ian has his first tournament this next weekend. We're excited about that one. It is close, so it will not kill us financially. he's excited, which is the best part of all.

I will keep you posted on his progress, and mine as soon I can get signed up. Bad timing right now with all the events going on.

We're planning to move the school from its present location (1,000 sf) to a better location. They announced that the new building will probably have 6,000 sf, and we are getting more black belt instructors! This is exciting news for us. This is more than we dreamed of when we decided to move to a more active location.

I haven't start tae yet, may have to wait a few since the kids are really wanting to go to the fair this weekend. That's always expensive. Hopefully after that I will be able to pop for it.

Until then, if anyone wants to check out the website that I'm building for his school, please go to www.kaybyrd.com/tae and let me know if it needs something more or less. I think I've gone a little overboard on the colors, etc. Some of the pages linked to aren't even complete, but I hate to keep adding to it with the same type color schemes if its too much.

I've got more to upload and some changes to make to whats there, but any comments would be greatly appreciated!

yeah!

We had a really good time today. Ian competed against 3 other students from this region and did really well.

He placed first in his form, and third in sparring. They were tied, but when they did the tie breaker he froze a little and then added another step in there. I'm just proud of him for entering and competing!

Our next tournament is December so we're getting ready for that one. He could compete in November, but its the same weekend that we're going to be in Nashville visiting our Vegas child that is flying there for a competition, and this tournament is in Little Rock.

I never dreamed that we would be traveling like we do withi this, but its a lot of fun. So far the furthest tournament coming up is in Little Rock, but that's still only 4 hours from here. Fortunately for us this first tournament for him was only 10 minutes from here.

Proud

kaybyrd, I am so proud of you and your little byrdies. You inspire me. I can't wait until you are posting about your own tae successes. I wish they had something like that in Louisa, KY.
