Packers vs Seahawks

As horrible as Seattle played yet they come away with the win is just sickening. GB had the game and they just plain let it slip away. I'd hate to be the guy that messed up that onside kick bouncing off his coconut.

That said, I thought the Packers would get kicked by 30 so they did a lot better than I thought they would.

Always next year.

Step-son is a huge Hawks fan (being from Seattle and all). He was at a friends place watching and I almost messaged him with 4 min left about "I told him so". Glad I didn't now. Already owed him $5 for the Cardinals game, now I owe him $10 because I said they wouldn't get to the SB again. Don't think I'm gonna go for $15.

This is why I don't follow sports I guess...

I turned on the television maybe 30 seconds after it was over so I didn't know how close it had been or how badly the SeaGumbies had played much of the game until I checked the on-line comments of my local TV news.

As you can tell I don't really care. I do understand why the players and other team personnel care as it is their occupations but why people that have no financial interest (other than maybe some side bets) get all worked up over what should be just a game to them just baffles me.

I'm with you Furd...I like watching certain sports (mostly NASCAR and other racing, pool, darts, table tennis, even if others don't consider those sport) and I like an exciting finish, but I'm just not invested like so many people I know are. Neighbors scream and yell in the garage when they have a game on. Step-son same way. Glad he was at a friends house instead of here.

I just don't get it.

I remarked late in the game that if the Packers let that one get away it was going to go down as one of the great NFL chokes in history. Lombardi is rolling over in his grave.

I quit watching about two minutes into the second quarter (Seahawks fan since the 70's) because I couldn't take it. Came back about three minutes left to go just to see what the final result was - wow, what a finish.

What I keep thinking about are those two early fourth down and short to go plays where the Packers kicked field goals which were shorter than extra points - they go for it and score one of those two times and they win the game.

Yeah, I mean really, you settle for two straight field goals in the shadow of the goal line in the championship game???

Jim Taylor could have pounded those in.

Yeah, but if they don't make it and lose by 3 you're the south end of a horse. Hard to say. Early in the game Bud Grant always said to take the points. If it was late in the game and you're behind it's a whole different story. Remember, Seattle has the number one rated defense in the league.

Here's an eight minute clip of some guys discussing the outcome, kind of interesting. Wish now I would have recorded the game.
