Termite treatment
Greeting,
I found little dust at the corner of my finished basement so had inspectors from three companies and 1 local guy inspected my house. All of them saying no termite damages found on the studs. The termites came from the french drain. They offer 2 kinds of treatments below.
#1, Drill holes on the front porch and garage(close to entry point) to do the treatment and set up the bait-stations around other areas outside of the house for monitoring. Price range: $700~1500
#2. Drill holes and do treatments
all around the house. Price: $2500
I haven't decided yet. Any suggestions?
Thanks.

How much $$$ for the bait station monitoring after the initial treatment?
Personally I’d rather have a complete liquid termiticide treatment with “Fipronil” as the active ingredient. Termidor, Taurus are two among others that have fipronil as active ingredient.

PAbugman,
Thank you for your reply.
bait station monitoring is about $360/year and they check it quartly. If termites being found, then it will cost me to treat other areas.
The guy prefered full treatment told me he will use termidor around the house. drill the holes(6 inch apart) and put 1 gallon of termidor into each hole. I need 360 gallons of termidor.
The thing is Im planning to move to a town with better school system within 5 yrs, so do I want to do the full treatment with higher price?

#1 Termites do not leave behind saw dust, there would be mud tunnels.
Carpenter ants, powder post beetles and a few others leave saw dust behind.
Bait stations are a rip off. They love to push them because there cheap to buy, fast to install and lock people into to having to keep paying for them to be inspected.
There going to just show up pull out a pine stick and look at it to see if there's termites on it.
Depending on where you live and what was there before the house was built and your landscaping there can be dozens of termite colony's out in the yard doing no harm to the house.
A real termicide would be the way to go if you really had termites.

I understand your strategy and thinking about selling the house in the near future.
For the bait station monitoring: Are you sure that you would pay extra if termites were found? Typically that isn’t the case. It seems that you aren’t getting a warranty, or much of one with this option.
With my experience concerning termites and real estate transactions it is advisable to have a good, solid warranty that will be transferred to new owner. It keeps the buyer more comfortable about buying a house that had a termite problem. Keeps the lending agency happier too.
The partial treatment with Termidor doesn’t scare me as it is a non-repellent so termites won’t even know it is there. It is the ideal choice for a partial treatment.
What is the brand name of the bait stations?
