Honeywell Prestige question - wiring for heat pump

Hello everyone--

I'm hoping someone might be able to help me with a wiring question for the Honeywell Prestige thermostat line. I've looked through the forum with no luck finding something that I think exactly answers my question.

I'm replacing an existing Honeywell FocusPRO 5000 with the following wiring on the existing thermostat:

R/Rc - Red
Y - Yellow
C - Black
O/B - Orange
G - Green
Aux - White
E - Black

The system type of the FocusPRO is set to a 2H/1C heat pump with aux heat.

On the new Honeywell Prestige thermostat there are not separate terminals for Aux and E, there's just one terminal labeled Aux/E. Do I connect both black and white to the Aux/E terminal on the new thermostat or is there some other configuration that I should be using? The instructions don't seem to address anything specific on this point. Maybe the Prestige is just well beyond the do it yourselfer!

Thanks in advance for any guidance!

Why are you replacing a good stat like that.

Aux and E go to the same place. Do the same thing but are called two different things because of the mode the system is in.

Aux - help the heat pump or provide elec heat in defrost mode.

E - Use elec heat when heat pump is dead.

Both turn on elec heat.

Put both together as you correctly surmised.

Very astute, you answered your own question IN your question.
