Need Thermostat Install Help for Nordyne E2EB012HA

I need help hooking up a new stat to a Nordyne E2EB012HA, and currently have a Intertherm but don't know the model, and upgrade it to a ROBERT SHAW 9701I2 THERMOSTAT, and have 5 wires in my wall but only 4 are hooked up., the one wire (blue) is just hanging on both ends.

Do you have A/C only or HP?

T-stat---------Color/# at air handler.
C--------------Grey/3
R--------------Red/4
W1------------White/2
G--------------Green/5
Y---------------?????

Manual is not clear, and I've never been around this brand of t-stat, so on the

System setting.

-Equipment type- Furnace Electric.

I"m not sure if you have A/C?

Need recommendations for zoning

Hello, I would really appreciate some help here. I have had it with my one programmable thermostat in a three story (including basement) house. The existing thermostat is on the main floor (and that too right over the vent). In winter, it is Alaska in the basement, New York on the first floor and Mexico on the second floor (bedrooms). In summer it is reversed. So obviously I need zoning. I am thinking of creating a second zone for the second floor. I am very handy and can work with electricity, etc. Is this a job I can do myself? I ask because I have never worked with an HVAC system before. I guess it would involve: (1) installing a damper and actuator, and (2) a control board that can control two thermostats with wireless remote sensors (don't want to run/fish wires). BTW, will this control board control the actuator for the damper as well, or would there be a separate control board for that purpose. I see myself struggling with the first - is that mechanically challenging task for someone who has never done it before? Would I be better off getting this done by a pro and then doing the second one myself? For the second one, which control board and compatible thermostats would you recommend. Wiring a Venstar T1700

I hava a robertshaw t-stat upstairs. It controles the upstairs heat and the AC. The heat is gas and the ac is a carrier system. The t-stat has 5 wires - green to G, yellow to Y, white to W, red to RH, and red to RC. There are two other wires in the wall a blue and a white. I have a venstar t1700 and was wondering which wire goes to which terminal? The venstar has a G, R, C, Y1, W1, and W2. Thanks in advance WillRead More
