It looks like the Goodman ComfortNet stat is made by White Rodgers. Does anyone know if WR sells the same stat under their own brand? I would think the Goodman must be proprietary in some way because they want $400 for the thing, and a similar featured look-alike WR is $160.

Hi, I finally got tired of the single-setting, nonprogrammable Lennox thermostat at the house, and bought the Honeywell RTH2510 7-day Programmable Thermostat, installing it this afternoon. As there were only four wires coming out of the wall, I followed the easy connection diagram here: [IMG]http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u220/aaronthomason/JustStuff/Grab1.jpg[/IMG] Everything seems to function normally. This evening however, I don't know if it was because it's been miserably hot here today or if I'm being paranoid, but it just doesn't "feel" like the A/C is as cold as it was prior to the swap. I went back through the installation manual and found a second conventional diagram that I didn't [I]think[/I] applied to my case because of the number of wires, but at the bottom of the page I found the note I highlighted in green: [IMG]http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u220/aaronthomason/JustStuff/Grab2.jpg[/IMG] [B]"This thermostat cannot be used if your old thermostat had any two of the following wires: R, RC, RH, 4 and V." [/B] Looking at my old thermostat, I can see that it had connections for the RC and RH wires, and that they had been jumpered together (not by myself) to the red line coming out of the wall: [IMG]http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u220/aaronthomason/JustStuff/LennoxThermostat.jpg[/IMG] So what does that mean? As the lines were wired together it [I]seems[/I] to suggest that there shouldn't be a problem, since now the single red wire goes to the single red port, but I'm not sure. Do I need to find one that supports the multiple "R" lines, even though there's only one wire to connect to? Seems that the jumper option was a little hackish, but if that's what I need to do then I will. Just wish that little disclaimer was somewhere on the outside of the package rather than half way through the installation guide… Nothing else (A/C, furnace, etc) was changed at the time of the thermostat install.
