Carrier thermostat with 8 low-voltage wires

I am trying to change out my old thermostat. I purchased at Home Depot a programmable thermostat for my gas forced air furnace (no A/C or heat pump) but find the possible connections can be no more than 6 wires.

I don't know why my current control needs 8 wires. Maybe a factor is a whole-house fan that is part of my system. This fan has a separate control at the furnace that cycles in fresh air 15 minutes every hour.

Any advice for me? Is there a programmable thermostat that will accommodate 8 wires?

Current connections: green wire to gnd
red wire to RS
yellow wire to RS+5

2nd cable blue wire to C
green wire to G
yellow wire to y1
white wire to W1-o-b
red wire to R
copper ground not connected to anything.

THANKS FOR HELP WITH THIS!

Sam
